QUEENSTOWN ACTIVITIES

Queenstown has an international reputation as an adventure capital.

There are endless activities, including hiking & tramping, paragliding, bungy jumping, golf, mountain biking and jet boat cruising. In fact, there is SO much to do, we can't even begin to mention EVERYTHING. Instead, we suggest you indulge yourself in some serious fun and spend a couple of weeks enjoying this adventure capital of New Zealand.

Right now is the time to hit the slopes! The snow has come early to the Wakatipu and the slopes are perfect!

Check out the snow cams at The Remarkables or Coronet Peak.

Winter Festival! The 2006 Queenstown Winter Festival starts June 23  and runs through July 2. Winter Festival is a series of competitions and parties both on and off the slopes. At Coronet Peak ski area there are crazy snow races, in cardboard boxes or suitcases. For the true skier there are a series of serious ski racing and snowboard competitions as well as multi-sport endurance races for the hard core athletes. At night, the streets of Queenstown are alive and kick'n, there will be Jazz and a whole host musical and artful events to participate in and enjoy!. You can join in the fun with the downtown Mardi Gras or watch snowboarders performing spectacular flips and twists under lights at Coronet Peak ski field. Tradition dictates the annual winter ball where you can mix and mingle with the rich and famous at Queenstown's social night of the year.

Other Queenstown activities could include hiking some of New Zealand’s spectacular Great Walks, (check for conditions as many trails are closed over winter) paragliding, or bungy jumping. For some serious thrill therapy, try the Shotover and Dart river trips. They offer exceptional scenery and jet boat excursions.

How about a bungy jump?

Yep, just lean out over the wide blue yonder and jump!

Maybe Paragliding over Queenstown is for you?

Try a swing bridge along the Routeburn Track.

How about wine tasting?

Central Otago is a well established New Zealand wine growing region.

Let Wine Time take you on a tour of the regions premier wineries. You will meet the winemakers and learn a bit about the history of Central Otago.
